The latest member to join the cast of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series American Horror Story: Freak Show is Finn Wittrock, an alum of All My Children. The fourth season of the successful horror series will once again return to New Orleans to film, although the story will be set in 1950s Florida. Returning cast members include Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters and the adored Jessica Lange for her last season on the show.
Murphy made the announcement via Twitter writing, “Thrilled to announce the very talented FINN WITTROCK has joined the cast of Freak Show!” The two have worked together before in Murphy’s HBO adaption of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, in which the actor appears. Wittrock is also known for appearing in Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Other newcomers include Michael Chiklis, the veteran star of the excellent FX drama The Shield.
As with most AHS casting announcements, there were no details released regarding his character, although he’ll likely be a freak. Nevertheless, an AHS fan page on Facebook has published what is believed to be a leaked call sheet for the new season revealing a few character details. Apparently Lange will play Elsa Mars while Bates and Peters play the duo Ethel and Jimmy Darling. The sheet may not be completely reliable – sometimes productions play with details to fool the gullible – but it also reveals that Naomi Grossman will reprise her role as microcephalic Pepper from the show’s second season Asylum. On the other hand, Paulson’s role has already been made official as conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler.
American Horror Story: Freak Show is filming in New Orleans at Second Line Stages now.
