Evangeline-Lilly-webThe upcoming Marvel Studios movie Ant-Man announced their core cast on Saturday at Comic-Con. Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll have been recruited for the superhero film, directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige. The House of Cards actor (Stoll) will play the villain Yellowjacket while Lilly plays the young Hope Pym.

Many thought Lilly was attending Comic-Con only to promote The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Surprise overtook fans at the announcement of her role. Hope Pym is the daughter of Hank Pym, who is being played by Michael Douglas. His character in the comics invented a substance that allows people to shrink in size. Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang.

Although Lilly doesn’t know much of her character, fans wonder if Hope Pym will become the evil Red Queen as seen in certain versions of the comics.

Marvel hasn’t been taking it easy. They’ve got the upcoming films Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron and their Disney animation collaboration, Big Hero 6. Ant-Man will begin filming next month and is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
