Jeffrey Dean Morgan of “Watchmen” and “The Losers” is set to star in “The Courier”, slated to begin production in Baton Rouge next month. The film has been holding auditions at Raleigh Studios at the Celtic Media Centre for the last several weeks, working with local production company Films in Motion.

Morgan will play a messenger between terrorist cells hired to deliver a briefcase holding sensitive materials to an underground boss who’s impossible to track down. Along the way he discovers his employer’s plan to bomb a building and teams up with a cop to help take them down before the bombing can occur.

Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad will direct from the script that launched the careers of Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the writing duo best known for projects such as “3:10 to Yuma” and “Wanted”. Abu-Assad’s 2006 film “Paradise Lost” was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Cary Brokaw is producing.
