Winter Circle Productions, a locally based independent promotion and production house, and The Joy Theater recently introduced This Is Nola. This Is Nola is a free monthly series showcasing the sights, tastes and sounds of New Orleans.
The series will feature local music performances, visual art installations, street food, craft cocktails and other elements that represent the local contemporary culture of the city. The motivation behind This Is Nola came from the lack of support for the contemporary arts, cocktail and culinary scenes in the city. It was created in hopes to share the various talents of the city including bands, chefs, artists and mixologists.
“Our local heritage and the people that built it are what make New Orleans unlike any other city in the world and cherished unlike any other city in the world,” states Reeves Price, founder of Winter Circle Productions. “As we continue to grow as America’s boutique city, we are attracting new people, new tastes and new trends. They are not changing the local culture, they are complimenting it, and This Is Nola is their speakerbox.”
The first This Is Nola event will be held October 17 at The Joy Theater. The lineup for the first event includes Hurray for the Riff Raff as headliner, The Deslondes, Coyotes, DJ sets by MUSA, the trailer for New Orleans Film Festival’s, Below Dreams, visual art by Kate Hanrahan, cocktails by Konrad Kantor, and food from NOLA Girl and St. Clair Pizza.
