Royal Teeth Signs with Elektra Records

by Jordan McGuire on April 22, 2015

Royal Teeth has signed with a major label, Elektra Records, which is owned by Warner Music Group. The decision to sign with a major label is big for any band. It signals a big vote of confidence in their commercial talent. Royal Teeth is an American indie group from Lafayette, New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They formed in 2010. Band-mates include sing/guitarist Gary Larsen, singer Nora Patterson, guitarist Thomas Onebane, bassist Josh Wells and drummer Josh Hefner.

In a statement released by the band, “We’re very excited to announce our signing to Elektra Records! We have been pouring our hearts into writing new music. We are growing and changing and lovin the process.” This up-and-coming indie band released their tour dates for the latter part of the year and make a pivotal stop at the Jazz & Heritage Festival this Friday April 24.

Their songs sound similar to indie pop music that has been licensed for hip Heineken and Apple commercials. Catchy, poppy and ultimately fun music to hear. They have whistles, percussion, sticks and shakers and their true strength is their ability to harmonize their vocals. Royal Teeth is a blithe cross between Passion Pit and MIKA. The group released their EP Act Naturally in 2012. Visit the band’s official website here. Watch their single “Wild” below:

Royal-Teeth-Zach-Breaux-webRoyal Teeth returns home to Louisiana for the Voodoo Experience in a few weeks. The indie pop rock band was formed in New Orleans in 2010, comprised of Gary Larsen, Nora Patterson, Thomas Onebane, Joshua Wells and Josh Hefner.

The pop star potential of Royal Teeth was evident early. Their EP Act Naturally featured radio-ready songs like “Wild,” “My Donna” and the title track “Act Naturally.” And Scene was fortunate to feature them live at A Film/Fashion Affair in 2011, our New Orleans Film Festival and NOLA Fashion Week crossover party.

Soon the band signed with the Los Angeles-based indie label Dangerbird Records. Since, Royal Teeth has been featured on Last Call with Carson Daly and American Idol.

Royal Teeth signs to Dangerbird Records

by Elizabeth Glauser on April 30, 2012

The Southern Louisiana sextet Royal Teeth has signed with independent record label Dangerbird Records, joining some of indie music’s elite including the Silversun Pickups, Fitz and the Tantrums and Minus the Bear.

The band is based in New Orleans, becoming an electro-pop staple of the area with their energetic live shows, catching the eye of Dangerbird founder and CEO Jeff Castelaz. “I love New Orleans. My wife, Jo Ann Thrailkill, is from there, and we spend a lot of time in the city. For years, I’ve wanted to sign a band from New Orleans — to raise the Dangerbird flag there, to show our solidarity with the city.” says Castelaz. “On Halloween night, we got invited to see this band Royal Teeth at a little venue just outside the French Quarter. As soon as they hit the stage I got that special feeling inside, and I knew they were the band that would allow us to put our stamp on the city’s musical lineage.”

Catch Royal Teeth on their first extensive US tour when they return to New Orleans to play a celebratory show June 2 at the New Orleans House of Blues. Tickets are available at
