Season one of Halt and Catch Fire ended with Gordon’s dream turning into a nightmare, Joe searching for himself in the woods and Cameron and Donna teaming up to start Mutiny. This AMC series has created incredible traction of late and is set to premiere just two weeks after the infamous Mad Men closes its doors forever.

Halt is set in Texas in the 1980s during the second wave of personal computer innovation. Scoot McNairy, Lee Pace, Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishe star in the drama and James Cromwell will have a recurring role in the upcoming season.

In our exclusive Scene interview with Scoot McNairy, he said fans should expect to see Gordon more comfortable in his own skin. The facial hair department is up in the air but we should see his beard come and go as the season progresses.

dd1bce56-webSeveral years in the making, Weezer’s new album Everything Will Be Alright In The End is finally available today. Their first new single “Back to the Shack” was released back in July. It was the band’s first new song since 2010.

Weezer formed back in 1992, releasing a plethora of chart-topping albums and selling over thirteen million records. The guys decided in 2010 that, after some extremely successful years, it was time to slow it down. Singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo said that this gave him more time to spend working on the songs that he wanted to use for the new album. When time came for Weezer to start recording, they reunited with Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who helped the band create their most iconic album-length work. After all the hard work,Everything Will Be Alright In The End was born.

The album will feature eleven songs including “Back to the Shack.” Get your copy of Everything Will Be Alright In The End today.

Current Scene cover Mike Birbiglia dropped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night. The Sleepwalk With Me star can’t keep it together for three minutes before he has to exit stage left and reenter. Pretty funny stuff. You can read our exclusive interview with Birbiglia in the current issue of Scene Magazine or online here.

Birbiglia also gave a web exclusive to The Tonight Show talking about his first summer job. Check out the video below.

finnwittrockheadshot1-webThe latest member to join the cast of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series American Horror Story: Freak Show is Finn Wittrock, an alum of All My Children. The fourth season of the successful horror series will once again return to New Orleans to film, although the story will be set in 1950s Florida. Returning cast members include Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters and the adored Jessica Lange for her last season on the show.

Murphy made the announcement via Twitter writing, “Thrilled to announce the very talented FINN WITTROCK has joined the cast of Freak Show!” The two have worked together before in Murphy’s HBO adaption of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, in which the actor appears. Wittrock is also known for appearing in Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Other newcomers include Michael Chiklis, the veteran star of the excellent FX drama The Shield.

As with most AHS casting announcements, there were no details released regarding his character, although he’ll likely be a freak. Nevertheless, an AHS fan page on Facebook has published what is believed to be a leaked call sheet for the new season revealing a few character details. Apparently Lange will play Elsa Mars while Bates and Peters play the duo Ethel and Jimmy Darling. The sheet may not be completely reliable – sometimes productions play with details to fool the gullible – but it also reveals that Naomi Grossman will reprise her role as microcephalic Pepper from the show’s second season Asylum. On the other hand, Paulson’s role has already been made official as conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is filming in New Orleans at Second Line Stages now.
