Before it gets too chilly and while it’s still safe to bare some leg, a one-of-a-kind Halston mini dress (like the one shown here) is a cocktail garment that’s sure to turn heads. Notorious for its luxurious but minimal modern designs, the Halston line is simply irresistible.
One stunning quality about this dress is the flawlessly beaded leaf designs atop a neutral tone that glows. The arms are three quarter length for the seasonal weather and work nicely to balance out the look. The additional material on the top half of the garment counteracts with the mini’s short length.
The mini dress is a trend that dominated the runway last Spring and has thus carried its way into Fall. This particular Halston mini is perfectly cropped for both a classy and complimentary length. Graciously gathered with a satin sash, this look works best with exposed legs and open or peeptoe shoes.

Rockstars have a style all their own. With edgy pieces and unpredictable choices, the profession has managed to create a distinct place in the fashion timeline. While fashion experts will never be able to pin down exactly what defines Rockstar Fashion, there are a few surefire ways to compose a rock look for yourself.
Sequins will always be considered glam-rock. This sequined Badgley Mischka single-sleeved oversize top is actually a dress. Leave it to our rocker chick to tuck it into her micro mini for a look all her own. The runways overflowed with leg wear during the fall shows. Pairing socks with tights, boots or even heels is something a number of designers have recently included in their collections. Though unconventional, these pairings will be what the fashion forward are wearing to this fall.
Accessorizing is the perfect way to finalize any look, and eclectic jewelry is one accessory no rocker would be without. Layering a number of pieces like the beautiful necklaces and bracelets here creates dimension and solidifies this undeniably avant-garde style.
This photo of Katherine Bosio was taken at the Music Shed in New Orleans. Located on Euterpe St right around the corner from Second Line Stages, the recording studio hosted legendary alt rockers R.E.M. in late 2009, collaborating with local musicians such as trombonists Mark Mullins, Craig Klein and Greg Hicks of Bonerama. While it doesn’t happen nearly as fast, men’s fashion evolves just as women’s fashion does. If anything is true about men’s fashion and suiting this fall, it’s this: the classics will always rule. However, this year, truly fashion savvy males will pair modern styles with the timeless classics.
A cashmere sweater is every man’s first step in the right direction toward a sexy and refined look. This oyster gray Polo Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater is divine, with a great shawl collar for both additional warmth and fashionable detail.
As for the pants, men’s pinstripe fashion is no longer just business as usual. While it’s appropriate to wear a pinstripe suit in nearly any office setting, this season’s experts are proving that pinstripe menswear is shifting away from the old connotations of an uptight banker. The pinstripe suit is being re-assigned, appearing at more out-of-office affairs like the semi-formal look shown here.
One huge trend hitting stores everywhere this fall is the Oxford shoe. Though they have existed for centuries, we haven’t seen the Oxford at the forefront of fashion in quite some time. But now, it’s back in full force. This particular black Bedstu Oxford is covered with suede and couples perfectly with nearly any dark suit, tie & pants.
This photo of model and actor Evan Magers was taken against a blank screen in the digital screening room at Second Line Stages. Whether shooting on the studio lot or five minutes away in the French Quarter, Second Line’s digital screening room is the perfect place to screen dailies while filming in New Orleans proper.

With summer behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to coming cooler weather and the fashion it brings. The autumn and winter seasons will introduce a lot of new looks and, for the ones that aren’t so new, great takes on established fashion trends.
Femininity is always fashionable and the maxi gown is a trend that’s here to stay. From sheer evening pieces to couture lace gowns, the maxi is one that’s sure to please any figure with a surplus of styles. Keep in mind that white is the the new black this winter. Slipping into a white, high-collar lace gown for an evening affair is one of the best ways to feel both delightfully feminine and comfortable. This particular gown exudes angelic allure especially paired with the appropriate jewelry accents.
The photo of model Lauren Siegel below was taken at Second Line Stages, New Orleans only built-for-purpose soundstage facility. It was taken on Stage 2 just days after Warner Bros’ highly anticipated comic book movie Green Lantern finished shooting. Find out more at www.secondlinestages.com.

As Scene Magazine approaches its one-year anniversary, the September issue seemed the perfect opportunity to showcase the future of the fashion Scene. Over the next few weeks leading up to the September issue, we’ll be posting the best in fashion everyday with commentary from our fashion writers.
Our goal was simply to unify film, music and fashion. We enlisted designer John Delgadillo, along with fashion writers Katherine Bosio and Alisha Andrepont, to craft five photoshoots exemplifying the best in fall fashion. We carefully selected five of Louisiana’s top models, hired photographer Jason Kruppa, and began selecting looks from boutiques around New Orleans.
For our backdrops, we’ve chosen two pivotal locations in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. A neighborhood that saw many homes and businesses shuttered after Katrina, the Lower Garden District now rises with great bravura.
Built inside of historic brick warehouses on Richards Street, Second Line Stages is New Orleans first built-for-purpose soundstage facility. A worldclass, LEED-certified green facility, Second Line was instrumental in luring Warner Bros superhero epic Green Lantern to New Orleans from Australia. The comic book movie has called Second Line home for most of 2010. Find out more about this world-class facility at www.secondlinestages.com.
Just a stone’s throw away is the Music Shed. The welcoming recording studio is quietly tucked away on Euterpe Street, and boasts a client list that includes R.E.M., Norah Jones, Robert Plant and New Orleans staples such as Dr. John and Kermit Ruffins. The Music Shed also sound serves as a resource to the film industry, a valuable resource within walking distance of Second Line. Find out more about the Music Shed at www.musicshed.net.
Together, these businesses form the cornerstone upon which an entertainment corridor is being built. And they are doing it at the center of a city that is being rebuilt.
