TRAILER: ‘Big Hero 6’

Disney and Marvel Comics have come together to make Big Hero 6, an animated superhero film that follows a young boy Hiro Hamada and his self-created robot Baymax. The toon is Walt Disney’s 54th animated feature, but more importantly, it is the Mouse House’s first Marvel animated film since they bought the comic book brand in 2009. In 2012, Disney confirmed they were adapting this Marvel mini-series Big Hero 6 into a feature.

Directors Don Hall and Chris Williams chose this film from Marvel’s library, together adapting it into a major 3D computer-animated superhero film. Although it is primarily produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Joe Quesada and his creative team from Marvel were involved. Quesada described the relationship between Hiro and Baymax as having “a very Disney flavor to it” but combined with “Marvel heroic arcs.”

The story is set in a fictional city called San Fransokyo, a combination of San Francisco and Tokyo. Together, Hiro and his robot discover crimes and assemble a team of superheroes to save their city.

If it’s as brilliant as Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph were, the film’s bound to be another success from Disney and now Marvel. Ryan Potter leads the cast as the voice of Hiro Hamada and Scott Adsit as Baymax. Alongside the two co-stars will be Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, Damon Wayans Jr, T.J. Miller, Genesis Rodriguez, David Henney and Alan Tudyk.

Big Hero 6 is slated for a November 7 release.
